The Organic World Congress 2014 will involve a total of three tracks: Main Track, Scientific Track, and Practitioners’ Track, each exploring the global organic industry from numerous perspectives. In addition, a series of workshops will also be held highlighting the contributions various initiatives are making to the organic world.
The aim of the congress and surrounding activities (pre-conference, IFOAM General Assembly, side-events and organic exhibition) is to share experiences, innovations, knowledge about the organic world with a special attention on the organizing country. The Congress provides an extraordinary momentum and inspiration for all stakeholders from around the world that are proud to be part. It is the leading event for the development of the organic sector worldwide.
The congress lasts 3 days and has 3 plenary and 8 breakout sessions with more than 250 presentations of impressive personalities providing latest insights. It gathers more than 2500 people from the organic sector worldwide (scientists, practitioners, trainers, farmers, processors, traders, etc.). During the congress an exhibition is held for scientists, institutions and companies to present their work. The General Assembly is organised for IFOAM members including a motion bazaar on a boat trip on the Bosporus. Over 600 organizations use their democratic rights and elect the World Board, decide the global organic positions and move member motions for 2 days. Pre-conferences and assemblies of organizations a day or two before enrich the program and provide space for specialists to deepen their debates. A Turkish pre-conference concentrates on the national organic development. Side-events such as social events, film screenings, excursions, visits of (organic) markets and touristic tours are planned on the margins of the congress.
